What it asks of a laptop

Atlas Fallen’s measured 1080p High-preset results suggest that it is reasonably accommodating on modern gaming laptops, but considerably less so on lower-end graphics hardware. These figures cover just seven laptops, so they are best read as the performance of these specific machines rather than a guarantee for every laptop using the same GPU name.

At 1920x1080 with the High preset and upscaling off, the measured range runs from 43fps on the Acer Aspire 5 with a 35W RTX 2050 to 182fps on the Acer Predator Helios 18 with an RTX 4090. The median result is 120fps, and six of the seven measured laptops reached both 60fps and 100fps. Only one reached 144fps.

That split matters. The game does not appear to require flagship hardware for a good 60fps or even a three-figure result at these settings: both measured RTX 4050 laptops exceeded 100fps, while all three RTX 4070 systems were above 120fps. However, the 43fps result from the 35W RTX 2050 shows that an entry-level, low-power GPU can fall well short of the same target.

The separation between tiers is substantial. Notebookcheck’s single RTX 4090 result was 182fps, compared with a 126fps mean across the three RTX 4070 laptops and a 108fps mean across two RTX 4050 models. The RTX 2050 system managed 43fps. In other words, Atlas Fallen scales well enough for more powerful laptops to pursue high-refresh-rate performance, but the available figures indicate that the lower end is where compromises are most likely to be necessary.

Power configuration is also worth keeping in mind. The three RTX 4070 results all come from laptops listed at 140W, and one RTX 4050 is likewise listed at 140W. The Aspire 5’s RTX 2050 is listed at 35W. That is a very large power difference as well as a GPU-tier difference, so the figures do not isolate GPU architecture from laptop power limits.

What runs it

For a 60fps target at 1080p High without upscaling, six of the seven measured laptops cleared the line. The fastest was the Acer Predator Helios 18 with RTX 4090, at 182fps. The three RTX 4070 machines all delivered well above 60fps:

The measured RTX 4050 laptops also cleared 60fps comfortably. The Schenker XMG Apex 15 (Late 23), with an RTX 4050 at 140W, recorded 113fps. Dell’s G15 5530 with an RTX 4050 recorded 104fps. On this evidence, these two specific RTX 4050 laptops were already sufficient for a 60fps target at the tested settings, with considerable headroom beyond it.

The exception is the Acer Aspire 5 with a 35W RTX 2050, at 43fps. That is below 60fps at the tested High preset. The available numbers do not show what settings changes would be needed to reach 60fps, so it would be unsafe to promise a particular alternative preset or resolution. What can be said is that this particular low-power RTX 2050 configuration was the only measured laptop below 60fps.

For 100fps, the picture is similarly clear within this small sample: six of seven laptops made it. Both RTX 4050 systems did so, at 104fps and 113fps, and the RTX 4070 group ranged from 120fps to 132fps. The RTX 4090 result was 182fps. A 100fps target therefore looks realistic on the measured RTX 4050, RTX 4070 and RTX 4090 laptops at 1080p High, but not on the measured 35W RTX 2050 system.

For 144fps, only the RTX 4090-equipped Acer Predator Helios 18 cleared the target, at 182fps. The closest non-4090 result was the HP Omen 16-xf0376ng at 132fps. That does not mean an RTX 4070 laptop cannot ever reach 144fps, but these High-preset, no-upscaling figures do not show one doing so.

The cheapest laptop that handles it

No laptop prices are included in the fact sheet, so it is not possible to identify the cheapest option in GBP from the measured data alone. Price comparisons would be especially unreliable without knowing each machine’s configuration, retailer and sale status.

Looking only at the listed laptops and their measured performance, the lowest-tier GPU to clear 60fps was the RTX 4050. The Dell G15 5530 with RTX 4050 recorded 104fps, while the Schenker XMG Apex 15 (Late 23) with RTX 4050 at 140W recorded 113fps. Both are therefore the lowest-tier measured options that handled the tested 1080p High workload at more than 100fps.

The Acer Aspire 5 with a 35W RTX 2050 is likely to sit in a different class of machine, but its measured 43fps means it cannot be presented as a 60fps High-preset choice on these figures.

What this means if you’re buying

If Atlas Fallen is one of your main games and you want 1080p High performance without relying on upscaling, the measured RTX 4050 laptops are the practical starting point in this dataset. The two examples available both exceeded 100fps, making them suitable for a 60fps target with room to spare and potentially a good fit for high-refresh displays below 144Hz.

An RTX 4070 laptop offers a clearer performance margin in these results. The three measured 140W systems produced 120fps, 127fps and 132fps, a notably tight cluster. That makes the RTX 4070 group the strongest evidenced choice here for aiming around 120fps at the tested settings, although this is based on only three laptops with the same stated GPU power level.

The RTX 4090 result is decisively faster at 182fps, and it is the sole measured route past 144fps at 1080p High with upscaling off. It is the option for buyers prioritising a 144Hz-class result in this particular test, but that conclusion rests on one Acer Predator Helios 18 result rather than a wider RTX 4090 comparison.

Conversely, buyers considering a low-power RTX 2050 laptop should treat the Acer Aspire 5’s 43fps result as a warning that this game can be demanding for that class of hardware. For the tested settings, the measured data favours RTX 4050-class gaming laptops and above.

How these numbers were produced

Frame rates here are not measured by us, and we label how each one was arrived at. A figure marked measured comes from a published run on that exact machine. A figure marked representative is derived from the GPU and its power limit (TGP) and cross-referenced against published reviews - a sound estimate of what that configuration delivers, but not a measurement of that specific laptop. Unless stated otherwise, numbers are 1920x1080, High preset, upscaling off. Where a laptop ships in several power configurations we use the wattage of the exact SKU listed, because a 140W RTX 5070 and a 115W one are not the same product.
