Farming Simulator 22 (2021): what it takes to run it

What it asks of a laptop
At 1,920 x 1,080 using the High preset with upscaling off, Farming Simulator 22 looks forgiving by gaming-laptop standards in this particular set of measurements. Notebookcheck’s five results range from 105fps to 183fps, with a median of 149fps. Every laptop in the sample exceeded both 60fps and 100fps, while four of the five also reached 144fps.
That is a strong result, but the sample is still only five laptops, so it is important not to turn it into a blanket claim about every GPU carrying one of these names. The figures describe these specific machines at the stated resolution and preset. They do, however, show that the game did not force a major compromise even on the least powerful laptop represented: the HP Victus 16-e0145ng, with its 75 W RTX 3050 Ti, managed 105fps.
The separation between results is present, but not extreme. The fastest measured laptop, the MSI GE76 Raider with a 175 W RTX 3080 Ti, reached 183fps. The slowest, the HP Victus with RTX 3050 Ti, still delivered 105fps: a 78fps gap, but with both ends comfortably above 60fps. This suggests that, at these settings, the game rewards faster hardware with higher-refresh-rate headroom rather than making lower-end gaming laptops struggle for basic smoothness.
The GPU-tier averages also need careful reading because several tiers are represented by only one machine. The RTX 3080 Ti result comes from one laptop, the RTX 4070 result from one laptop, and the RTX 3050 Ti result from one laptop. Only the RTX 3070 Ti has two entries. As a result, these are useful reference points rather than a comprehensive ranking of every laptop implementation.
What runs it
All five measured laptops cleared 60fps. For a 60Hz screen, or for buyers whose priority is simply consistently high frame rates at 1080p High without upscaling, every machine in this data set delivered substantially more than the target.
- RTX 3050 Ti: The HP Victus 16-e0145ng, using a 75 W RTX 3050 Ti, recorded 105fps. It is the lowest result in the sample, but it still clears 60fps by 45fps and exceeds 100fps. This is the clearest indication here that 1080p High is not restricted to expensive high-end laptops.
- RTX 3070 Ti: Notebookcheck’s two RTX 3070 Ti laptops recorded 170fps in the MSI Stealth GS66 and 149fps in the HP Omen 16-b1090ng. Their mean is 160fps. Both clear 144fps, as well as 100fps and 60fps.
- RTX 4070: The Asus ROG Strix G18 with a 165 W RTX 4070 recorded 148fps. That puts this specific machine just above the 144fps mark, while also providing a substantial margin over 100fps.
- RTX 3080 Ti: The MSI GE76 Raider’s 175 W RTX 3080 Ti produced the highest measured result, at 183fps. It is the only laptop in the figures to exceed 180fps.
For high-refresh displays, four of the five measured systems reached at least 144fps: the GE76 Raider, both RTX 3070 Ti machines, and the ROG Strix G18. The Victus did not reach 144fps, but 105fps is still a high frame rate for the stated 1080p High test.
One notable point is that the RTX 4070 result of 148fps sits below both RTX 3070 Ti measurements, at 170fps and 149fps. With only one RTX 4070 laptop and two RTX 3070 Ti laptops represented, the figures do not support a broad conclusion about the relative performance of those GPU families. They show only what these individual laptops achieved.
The cheapest laptop that handles it
The cheapest priced machine in the fact sheet is the HP Victus 16-e0145ng at £537. Its RTX 3050 Ti, specified here at 75 W, recorded 105fps at 1,920 x 1,080 on High with upscaling off. On the available evidence, it is the value reference point: it was the slowest of the five measured laptops, but it still exceeded both 60fps and 100fps.
The other laptop with a stated price is the MSI Stealth GS66 at £2,688. Its RTX 3070 Ti delivered 170fps. That is 65fps ahead of the £537 Victus in these measurements, and it clears 144fps, but the price difference is also very large. For this game alone at the tested settings, the measured Victus result already provides more than 100fps; the Stealth’s advantage is principally extra frame-rate headroom for a high-refresh display.
No prices are supplied for the MSI GE76 Raider, HP Omen 16-b1090ng or Asus ROG Strix G18, so the measured figures cannot establish where they sit in value terms.
What this means if you’re buying
If Farming Simulator 22 is the main concern, the measured numbers do not point towards a need for a premium GPU at 1080p High with upscaling disabled. The £537 HP Victus 16-e0145ng is the cheapest priced example here and achieved 105fps, making it the practical baseline among these results for buyers targeting 60fps or 100fps.
For a 144Hz display, the evidence is more selective. The RTX 3050 Ti Victus fell short at 105fps, while the measured RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 4070 and RTX 3080 Ti machines all reached at least 144fps. Yet the small sample means it would be safer to treat those as results from named laptops, not guarantees for every laptop with the same GPU label.
The sensible buying conclusion is therefore straightforward: choose a laptop according to the frame-rate target and the rest of your gaming needs, rather than assuming Farming Simulator 22 alone requires top-tier hardware. In this five-laptop sample, even the least expensive priced machine ran it well at the stated settings, while faster systems mainly bought smoother performance on 144Hz-class panels.
How these numbers were produced
Frame rates here are not measured by us, and we label how each one was arrived at. A figure marked measured comes from a published run on that exact machine. A figure marked representative is derived from the GPU and its power limit (TGP) and cross-referenced against published reviews - a sound estimate of what that configuration delivers, but not a measurement of that specific laptop. Unless stated otherwise, numbers are 1920x1080, High preset, upscaling off. Where a laptop ships in several power configurations we use the wattage of the exact SKU listed, because a 140W RTX 5070 and a 115W one are not the same product.
