What it asks of a laptop

EA Sports WRC’s measured laptop results suggest a game that is comfortably playable on the three machines in this data set at 1920×1080 using the High preset with upscaling disabled. However, this is a very small sample: Notebookcheck’s numbers cover just three laptops. That is enough to show what these particular systems achieved, but not enough to make broad claims about every laptop fitted with the same GPU.

The measured spread runs from 85fps to 135fps. The slowest result, 85fps, is still well above 60fps, while the fastest machine reaches 135fps. All three tested laptops therefore clear 60fps, but only one reaches 100fps and none reaches 144fps. That makes the game look manageable for a conventional 60Hz or 120Hz gaming-laptop display at these settings, while getting close to the full refresh rate of a 144Hz panel appears more demanding.

The separation between the systems is also worth noting. The Acer Predator Helios 18 with an RTX 4090 records 135fps, a sizeable 50fps ahead of both the HP Victus 16 (2024) with an RTX 4060 and the MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport with an RTX 4070 running at 105W, each at 85fps. In this limited sample, the RTX 4090 system has clear headroom at 1080p High. The two mid-range machines deliver the same measured result, despite their different GPU labels.

That does not mean an RTX 4060 and an RTX 4070 will always perform identically in EA Sports WRC. Laptop GPU performance depends on the complete machine, and the figures here represent one laptop per GPU tier. What the numbers do establish is that these specific RTX 4060 and 105W RTX 4070 laptops both delivered 85fps under the same tested conditions.

What runs it

RTX 4060: 85fps in the measured HP Victus 16

The HP Victus 16 (2024), fitted with an RTX 4060, achieved 85fps at 1920×1080 on High with upscaling off. This is a solid result for a laptop aimed at 60fps gaming: it exceeds that target by 25fps in Notebookcheck’s measurement.

It does not clear 100fps in this test, so buyers specifically targeting three-figure frame rates should not treat this result as evidence that the RTX 4060 configuration will meet that goal at the tested settings. Equally, 85fps is well short of 144fps, meaning it would not fully feed a 144Hz display in this particular benchmark. It should nevertheless provide a higher-than-60fps experience on a 120Hz or 144Hz panel, even if the measured average does not reach those panels’ maximum refresh rate.

RTX 4070 at 105W: 85fps in the measured MSI Stealth 16

The MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, using an RTX 4070 at 105W, also records 85fps. It therefore clears 60fps but not 100fps or 144fps in the measured run. At the stated 1080p High setting without upscaling, its result is identical to that of the tested RTX 4060 HP Victus 16.

For a prospective buyer, the useful conclusion is narrow but clear: this particular 105W RTX 4070 Stealth 16 ran EA Sports WRC at 85fps. The data does not support assuming that an RTX 4070 laptop will necessarily outperform an RTX 4060 laptop by a given amount, because there is only one result for each tier and laptop implementations vary.

RTX 4090: 135fps in the measured Acer Predator Helios 18

The Acer Predator Helios 18 with an RTX 4090 is the only measured laptop to pass 100fps, reaching 135fps. It is also the only system in the sample with substantial performance headroom above 60fps. Compared with the two 85fps results, it is 50fps faster at the same resolution, preset and upscaling setting.

Even so, 135fps remains below the 144fps threshold. None of Notebookcheck’s three measured laptops reaches 144fps at 1920×1080 High with upscaling off, including the RTX 4090 Predator Helios 18. Buyers with a 144Hz display should therefore not expect a locked 144fps result from these figures. The RTX 4090 result is close, but it is still 9fps below that mark.

The cheapest laptop that handles it

No laptop prices are included in the fact sheet, so it is not possible to identify the cheapest option or compare value in GBP from the supplied information.

Based solely on the measured performance, the HP Victus 16 (2024) with RTX 4060 and the MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport with RTX 4070 at 105W are the lowest-performing machines in the sample, but both still achieve 85fps. The Acer Predator Helios 18 with RTX 4090 is faster at 135fps, although the absence of pricing means there is no basis for deciding whether its additional performance is worth the likely cost difference.

What this means if you’re buying

If your priority is simply to run EA Sports WRC at 1080p High without upscaling and stay above 60fps, every laptop in this small sample succeeds. The measured RTX 4060 HP Victus 16 already reaches 85fps, so the available figures suggest that this level of performance can be sufficient for the game at the tested settings.

If you are buying for a 100fps target, the evidence points only to the RTX 4090 Acer Predator Helios 18. It is the sole tested machine above that line, at 135fps. The RTX 4060 Victus 16 and 105W RTX 4070 Stealth 16 both fall 15fps short of 100fps.

For a 144Hz target at these exact settings, none of the measured laptops provides a 144fps result. The RTX 4090 Predator Helios 18 comes closest at 135fps, while the two 85fps systems are better matched to a buyer who values a reliably above-60fps outcome rather than maximum-refresh-rate performance.

The key caution is sample size. These are three measured laptops, not a complete map of EA Sports WRC performance across laptop GPUs. Treat the figures as evidence for the Acer Predator Helios 18, HP Victus 16 (2024) and MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport specifically, rather than as a promise for every RTX 4090, RTX 4060 or RTX 4070 laptop.

How these numbers were produced

Frame rates here are not measured by us, and we label how each one was arrived at. A figure marked measured comes from a published run on that exact machine. A figure marked representative is derived from the GPU and its power limit (TGP) and cross-referenced against published reviews - a sound estimate of what that configuration delivers, but not a measurement of that specific laptop. Unless stated otherwise, numbers are 1920x1080, High preset, upscaling off. Where a laptop ships in several power configurations we use the wattage of the exact SKU listed, because a 140W RTX 5070 and a 115W one are not the same product.
