What it asks of a laptop
Crimson Desert is represented here by a very small sample: just two laptops, both measured by Notebookcheck at 1,920 x 1,080 using the High preset with upscaling disabled. That is enough to show what these two specific machines achieved, but not enough to make broad claims about every laptop carrying the same GPU name.
On those settings, the measured figures range from 76fps to 90fps, with a median of 83fps. Both machines cleared 60fps, but neither reached 100fps. That makes Crimson Desert a reasonably demanding game at 1080p High when running without upscaling, at least on the high-end hardware represented here. It is not producing the sort of frame rates that would make a 144Hz display straightforward to fill at these settings, even on the faster of the two tested laptops.
The 14fps spread is meaningful, though it should be read carefully. The Chuwi Gamebook R9 with an RTX 5070 Ti running at 140W produced 90fps, while the Razer Blade 16 Early with an RTX 4080 at 175W produced 76fps. That puts the faster machine 18% ahead of the slower one in this limited comparison. However, there is only one result for each GPU tier, and laptop performance is affected by the complete machine rather than the GPU label alone. These figures show the results from these two laptops, not a definitive ranking between every RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 4080 laptop.
What is clear is that 1080p High without upscaling asks enough of a laptop that even the fastest measured result sits below 100fps. Buyers aiming for consistently higher-refresh play should not assume that a powerful gaming laptop will automatically deliver 100fps or 144fps under this exact test condition.

For a 60fps target, both measured laptops are suitable on the tested 1,920 x 1,080 High preset with upscaling off. Notebookcheck’s numbers show 2 of 2 laptops at or above 60fps.
- RTX 5070 Ti, 140W: The Chuwi Gamebook R9 reached 90fps. This is the fastest result in the available data and gives the clearest 60fps result of the two machines measured.
- RTX 4080, 175W: The Razer Blade 16 Early reached 76fps. It also clears 60fps, although it is the slower result in this two-laptop sample.
For a 100fps target, neither measured GPU tier gets there. The RTX 5070 Ti result is 90fps across one laptop, while the RTX 4080 result is 76fps across one laptop. In other words, 0 of 2 measured laptops reached 100fps on this preset and resolution.
For a 144fps target, the answer is also no based on the available figures: 0 of 2 laptops reached that level. The best measured result, 90fps from the Chuwi Gamebook R9, is 54fps short of 144fps. A 144Hz laptop panel can still be useful for other games, but these numbers do not support buying a laptop for Crimson Desert at 1080p High without upscaling on the expectation of 144fps.
The GPU-tier averages are simply the individual results here because each tier has a sample size of one. The RTX 5070 Ti average is 90fps across one laptop, and the RTX 4080 average is 76fps across one laptop. Treat them as reference points for those exact machines rather than as guaranteed performance levels for the wider market.
The cheapest laptop that handles it
The fact sheet does not provide UK prices for either tested laptop, so it is not possible to identify the cheapest option in GBP from the measured information alone.
Both named machines handle the tested setting at above 60fps: the Chuwi Gamebook R9 with its 140W RTX 5070 Ti delivered 90fps, and the Razer Blade 16 Early with its 175W RTX 4080 delivered 76fps. Without prices, however, it would be misleading to call either one the better-value or cheaper Crimson Desert laptop.
If price is the deciding factor, the useful conclusion from these figures is limited but practical: both of these specific laptops meet a 60fps standard at 1080p High with upscaling disabled. Compare their current UK pricing and specifications directly rather than assuming that the faster measured machine is necessarily the cheaper purchase.
What this means if you’re buying
For someone buying specifically to play Crimson Desert, the available measurements support a 60fps-oriented target rather than a 100fps or 144fps target at 1080p High without upscaling. Both tested laptops achieve that baseline, with results between 76fps and 90fps.
The Chuwi Gamebook R9 is the stronger result in this data set, reaching 90fps. It is the closest of the two to 100fps, but it still does not cross that line. The Razer Blade 16 Early is slower at 76fps, yet remains comfortably above 60fps in the same benchmark.
Do not read the two tier results as a purchasing rule that applies to every RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 4080 laptop. There are only two measured systems, one per GPU tier, and their listed GPU power limits differ. Instead, use the figures as evidence that these particular high-end machines can run the game well at the tested 1080p High setting, while also showing that the game is demanding enough to keep frame rates below triple figures without upscaling.
If your priority is a stable 60fps-class experience, either measured laptop has demonstrated it. If your priority is 100fps-plus or making full use of a 144Hz display at High settings with upscaling off, the current Notebookcheck data does not identify a laptop that achieves it.
How these numbers were produced
Frame rates here are not measured by us, and we label how each one was arrived at. A figure marked measured comes from a published run on that exact machine. A figure marked representative is derived from the GPU and its power limit (TGP) and cross-referenced against published reviews - a sound estimate of what that configuration delivers, but not a measurement of that specific laptop. Unless stated otherwise, numbers are 1920x1080, High preset, upscaling off. Where a laptop ships in several power configurations we use the wattage of the exact SKU listed, because a 140W RTX 5070 and a 115W one are not the same product.
